Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Govirka app ("Govirka", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the mobile app and its accompanying website. If you have questions, contact us at contact@govirka.com.

1. Anonymous accounts

Govirka does not require an email, phone number, or any real-world identity. You create an account with a nickname only. The server generates a random account identifier and a session token, which is stored hashed. Your identity and chats are not linked to any personal contact details.

2. Location

Govirka uses your device's location to show you chats that are nearby. Your current position is sent to the server only to perform this matching and is not stored. When you create a chat, the chat's location is stored and is shown to people within the surrounding radius. Your precise coordinates are never displayed to other users. Location access can be revoked at any time in your device settings; the app supports foreground ("while using the app") access only.

3. Messages and media

When you send a message or upload a photo or video, that content is transmitted to and stored by our servers so it can be delivered to other people in the chat. Chat content is visible to the members of that chat. Messages are limited in length and media uploads are limited in size. Content is automatically deleted when a chat expires (see "Retention" below).

4. 18+ and user-generated content

Govirka is intended for adults aged 18 and older.

Chats and the content within them are user-generated and are not filtered or moderated in advance. Photos, videos, and text shared by other users may include explicit sexual or otherwise mature material. You must not use Govirka if you are under 18.

5. Blocking and reporting

You can block other users or report a message or media item by long-pressing it. Reports are anonymous and can only be submitted by members of the chat in which the content appears. A message that receives a sufficient number of reports from different members is automatically hidden from everyone in the chat. Blocking a user hides their messages, chats, and notifications from you. Reported content is retained for review and moderation.

6. Push notifications and device information

With your permission, Govirka sends push notifications about new messages. To do this, a notification token provided by your platform (for example, Google's notification service) is registered with our servers, along with the platform type. You can disable notifications at any time in the app or in your device settings.

7. Third-party services

Govirka relies on a small number of third-party service providers to operate:

a mapping and location provider to render the map of nearby chats;
an analytics provider to help us understand how the app is used and improve it;
a push notification service for delivering notifications;
an error monitoring service that may record technical details of server errors.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies. Govirka does not display advertising and does not sell your personal data.

8. Retention and deletion

Chats are ephemeral by design. A chat closes automatically after approximately 60 minutes without activity and is permanently removed a short time later, together with its messages, members, and media. Your account token expires after 60 days without activity. We keep limited backups of our servers for up to 7 days.

9. Children

Govirka is not directed to children under 18 and does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us so we can remove the data.

10. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including secure transport (HTTPS), hashed credential storage, and encryption of message content at rest where enabled. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International transfer

Data you submit may be transferred to and processed on servers located outside your country, including countries that may not offer the same level of data protection. By using the app you consent to such processing.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this page, and the effective date above reflects the latest revision.
